The North Node in Taurus and South Node in Scorpio
(This was a newsletter sent in August 2022 at the Mars, Uranus conjunction in Taurus! Some interesting info on the )
As you might imagine, it goes without saying that when you’re an astrologer with 100s of books on your shelves you read the bits that are relevant to yourself first before reading up on all the people you love and admire.
It is endlessly satisfying to meet someone interesting and then have a good look at their astrology, this is how astrologers continually learn and grow. Every single person presents something fresh, each chart combination presents a unique picture.
I was born with the North Node in Taurus so I’ve done a fair amount of geeking out on this particular nodal axis. I know what it’s about and I’ve seen it lived out in all my school friends, my first loves, my besties.
There is so much to say that I’ll write in points, I think they are easier to consume!
The North Node is where our soul needs to go, grow and become. The South Node is where we are an expert but we are held back in those experiences… we need to grow towards the North!
The North Node in Taurus invites us to enjoy abundance. Things. Pleasure in food. Landscape. Nature. Money in the bank. Being resourceful, being able to look after yourself. Having some gold stashed away but also feeling comfortable spending and connecting to another with others without merging with them.
The South Node in Scorpio indicates past experiences where we relied on other, more powerful people for our security. Scorpio describes where we are bonded, where we are married to the powerful king, leader or business person and we care for their needs first. The Scorpio South Node is finely attuned to the moods of others and adapts to respond to their sensitivities - for if the relationship is damaged our security is under threat. GROWTH of the Scorpio South Node individual is when they have their own financial security and are no longer beholden to the erratic emotional power games of Scorpio. Instead they are grounded in their own power.
It’s not just money, it’s all the Scorpio South Node power themes. Jan Spiller writes this:
“Yearning for the soul mate causes Taurus North Node people to probe the psychology of others. In past lives this technique worked for them: Their understanding of another’s psychological makeup facilitated a bond of mutual empowerment. However, they became so accustomed to stepping into other people’s psyches that they lost touch with their own boundaries! Now when they enter another person’s force field they go too far and become invasive - and both people lose their sense of autonomy. Also, the other person can sense that Taurus North Node wants the bonding energy, rather than simply appreciating and empowering the other as a person in his or her own right.”
This is why I’m doing a course on Spiritual Hygiene very soon. Growing up around people like this (and also, being like this) means I now have excellent boundaries and am extremely alert to this! As soon as anyone starts trying to “read me” and give unsolicited feedback my walls are up quicker than you can say Fort Knox! We need to be able to appreciate others at face value without needing to bond with them and manipulate the situation.
In the context of this transit for you, for us, for the collective. Mars and Uranus conjunct the North Node in Taurus are ACTIVATING these themes for everyone. We are all being called to connect to our own worth, our own values and a new way of doing things without second guessing what other people think, want and do. Trauma responses make us want to read the room AND ADAPT TO FIT IT before we can relax. Taurus North Node reads the room and stays as they are without changing to fit the energy field.
Something I’ve seen time and time again with this nodal axis is the difficulty in letting go and accepting change. Clients and friends with this axis stay stuck in an emotional situation for a long time because they are loyal. LOYAL to others, but disloyal to themselves.
Loyalty to yourself is an important theme of this transit and nodal journey. Loyalty to someone abusive, difficult, manipulative, emotionally volatile and controlling (the shady bits of Scorpio) represents a failure to be loyal to yourself. So wherever you’ve been giving loyalty to someone, or something (this could be a situation) and failing to look at your own needs; Mars Uranus is here to jog you on into the future.
The North Node in Taurus is no stranger to abuse but can be excessively loyal towards abusers, seeing the good in them and missing reality. Where is this part of the collective story right now? It’s interesting to think about how this is playing out.
The gift of the Taurus North Node is that when we are embodied, loyal to ourselves and carefully looking after our own resources then we are strong enough to be forgiving to those who wielded power of us previously.
Taurus is connected to resources because this is the sign of EARTH, ruled by valuable Venus and connected to money, food, abundance, also oil, gas, coal, gold and silver. As this aspect plays out and Shell record record profits after price hikes there is a definite Taurus / Scorpio story playing out. If it’s happening in the mundane world, then where is it also happening for you in your personal life?
Taurus North Node often fail to define their own values and adopt other people’s values. This obviously backfires! This transit reminds us to BE OURSELVES and just DO WHAT WE LOVE. If other Scorpio type JUDGE what you love, and who you are… then it will not matter because there’s such a sense of confidence from growing the garden we admire.

As this transit sweeps us up here are my suggestions on how we can work with the energetics:
Avoid the media, newspapers and all “inappropriate intensity.” This grips is in the past where fear and power makes us vulnerable to others. >> The Taurus North Node switches off their phone, plants some seeds and knows they are resourceful.
This also applies to overreacting to headlines (or the journalists could stop writing inflammatory headlines!). Taurus calmly states the facts.
Of course I don’t live in a hole so I have a vague idea of what “the news” is talking about and money is certainly part of it! Whenever THEY tell you what to do with your resources you’re in the South Node energy, when you do what makes you feel secure and you remember to live in the NOW then you’re in the Taurus North Node.
That being said, the transit to the North Node in Taurus is saying… think ahead about your future security because change is afoot. The emphasis is on YOU, not on the banks, lenders, mortgage providers.
As an aside because I did talk so much about financial astrology. This signature is SO VERY CRYPTO, digital and futuristic. When governments implement digital currencies over the next few years they will be attached to all our data (Pluto in Aquarius is coming!) The North Node in Taurus speaks to Gold and Bitcoin (?) anything that is intrinsically valuable and independently owned. Stepping away from the web of Scorpionic control.
The Mars Uranus North Node signature also looks at nuclear (Uranus, Uranuium) power and war (Mars.) This is clearly the dodgiest, most dark and dangerous manifestation of this signature. I have seen it pop up in headlines over the past few days and I’m not into it.
We need to use the energy or it uses us. How are you going to WAKE UP, shake up and excite your life?

HELLO SUBCONSCIOUS BELIEFS AND ANCESTRAL TRAUMA - what did your dreams show you last night? It starts with your brain and as the electricity courses through your body, all the changes are zapping into reality. How can you use your inspiration and new found insight to be of service to others?
Cancer or Cancer Rising
New friends, new groups, a crew of likeminded and slightly whacky friends is what you want. You’re on the same wavelength and that is fun! It might be time to breakaway from that old crew who fear anyone changing and spread your wings! New hopes and dreams are taking you into a more abundant reality.
Leo or Leo Rising
You’re a leader, you’re a boss, you’re an innovation champion. Time to step up to the plate and do the bold thing that seemed too crazy. Change is on the cards for you to build your legacy.
